Client Brief

What we did

Firstly, we put in drainage to solve the problem of boggy ground.

We created a large seating area outside the patio doors designed with overlapping circles of paving with some planting between. We enlarged the steps leading to the lower part of the garden where we shaped the lawn using curves, therefore creating large planting borders.

At the side of the house we made a large screened area to store all the bins, with easy access from the back door. We re-used the existing paving but in an interesting pattern and with gravel and foliage planting between.

The planting at the bottom of the garden was mainly a mixture of grasses, herbaceous plants and bulbs. The grasses link to the landscape beyond, blurring the garden boundary and making it look much larger. From the lower garden the planting creates privacy but does not obscure the open view from the seating area above.
